After staying in Zion National Park for a month-long art residency with NPS in 2018, I was lucky enough to be invited back informally two more times, and in 2019 I focused on film photography that felt like being and traveling in the park. I like the idea of making art that is the same as what you’re actually doing. <3
In Zion National Park, the main way that people travel is through their shuttle system, which runs through 9 stops. I really like the way that the shuttles and roads become part of the experience and scenery.
The park rangers around me were really surprised by this cloud formation and one older ranger said he’d never seen one like it in 15 years.
Not to get too artsy here, but I did play with the shutter and the shuttle’s movement.
In 2020, I planned to make a short film with my dad as the main character based on one of my older albums called Bobok. Later, that idea turned into the short film we did make called Ultra. These are photos from my Dad’s room, which always had a Laguna Beach vibe.
My plan is to have a series for every neighborhood in LA, think I’m like 6/200
